An award-winning Jordanian writer, director, and producer based in Dubai, UAE. She has worked in the Middle East’s film and production industry since 2010 and has been teaching film and television production in higher education since 2018. Her work spans from intimate indie films to regional television productions.
Filmmaker
Razan has worked on major Hollywood productions including Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Zero dark 30.
Holding a Master of Fine Arts from the Red Sea Institute for Cinematic Arts, Razan has directed and produced multiple award-winning short films, including M1das and IDI, the latter earning her a nomination for Best Female Producer at the Toronto International Women Film Festival.
Her acclaimed projects include the 48Hour Film Project 1st Place winner Shah Mat (2016) and a Mary Shelley Award nomination at the 2020 Other Worlds Austin Film Festival.
Her sci-fi short M1das screened at over 24 international festivals and was a finalist at the Burbank International film festival.
It went on to win 14 awards including Best director and Best Short film.
She recently completed Karayr, a big budget post-apocalyptic Arabic short film that she wrote and produced,
which was curated in the Market Catalogue and Rendez-vous Industry during the Festival de Cannes 2025.
On December 14th 2025, KARAYR came on top at the first HollyShorts Dubai, winning the “Best of the Fest” Award.
It will now be part of the official selection, and will screen in competition at the OSCAR® qualifying film festival, HollyShorts 2026 in Los Angeles, California.
It has also earned a Best Drama Win at Philip K. Dick Film Festival an Honorable mention at Hollywood Shortsfest, and has since been an officially selection at Morbido Film Fest 2025, in Mexico city.
Film educator
Razan Takash is a film educator, lecturer, and Head of the Film at SAE University Collage. She is dedicated to preparing the next generation of filmmakers through industry-driven, practice-based learning, and is committed to bridging the gap between academia and the film industry by shaping curriculum and initiatives that reflect professional industry standards, equipping students with the creative, technical, and collaborative skills required for successful careers in filmmaking
Festival director
As Festival Director of the Black Sheep Film Festival, Razan Takash has transformed the festival from a small student showcase at SAE Dubai's Dubai Knowledge Park campus into one of the institution's flagship annual events. Under her leadership, the festival has grown into a nationally recognized annual celebration of emerging filmmaking, hosted at the Paramount Hotel Dubai and bringing together students, industry professionals, filmmakers, and audiences from across the UAE.
In 2025, she successfully launched the Black Sheep UAE Student Film Award, expanding the festival beyond SAE Dubai to celebrate and recognize outstanding student filmmakers from High-Schools and universities across the UAE.
Film content creator
Razan Takash is an active contributor to the regional film community. Through her channel Razz Reviews, she reviews the latest films and provides in-depth film analysis, industry news, and critical commentary cinema. She is also a regular moderator, panellist, and public speaker, leading conversations with internationally acclaimed filmmakers and participating in industry events across the region
