A Somali short film following a young girl caring for her mentally ill brother in a rural village, where those with mental illness are kept in chains due to stigma and fear.
SYNOPSIS
In a remote Somali village, a young girl carries the quiet weight of her family alone. Her mentally ill brother is kept chained outside their home. Each day she brings him food, speaks to him, and moves through the village under the heavy gaze of neighbours who offer pity without support.
Fragments of suppressed memory and unspoken grief begin to fracture her daily routine. Encounters with villagers force her closer to a truth she has long chosen not to see. Working at the intersection of psychological horror and intimate character drama, BOUND uses dream logic and emotional dislocation to explore how grief and inherited trauma reshape a person's relationship with reality.
